Slovenia Draw Serbia in Dramatic Euro 2024 Clash
Serbia Salvage Late Equaliser
AFP Reports from Wuppertal
In a thrilling encounter at the Euro 2024 group stage, Slovenia and Serbia played out a dramatic 1-1 draw. The Slovenians took the lead in the 70th minute, but a last-gasp header from Luka Jovic secured a point for the Serbians.
The match was played in front of a packed crowd at the Wuppertal Arena. Serbia started brightly and had the better of the chances in the first half. However, Slovenia grew into the game after the break and deservedly took the lead through a fine strike from Josip Ilicic.
With time running out, Serbia threw everything forward in search of an equaliser. Their persistence paid off in the dying seconds when Jovic rose highest to nod home a cross from Nemanja Radonjic.
The draw leaves both teams with one point after their opening matches. Slovenia will face England in their next game, while Serbia will take on Scotland.
