Slovenia held by Serbia in Euro 2024 qualifier

Jovic's late goal rescues point for visitors

Slovenia and Serbia played out a 1-1 draw in their Euro 2024 qualifier on Thursday.

Zan Karnicnik gave Slovenia the lead in the first half, but Luka Jovic equalized for Serbia in stoppage time.

The result keeps Serbia's hopes of qualifying for the tournament alive, while Slovenia's chances are now slim.

Slovenia started the game brightly and took the lead in the 20th minute through Karnicnik.

The hosts looked set to hold on for the win, but Jovic popped up with a dramatic equalizer in the 94th minute.

The draw leaves Slovenia in fourth place in Group B, with five points from five games.

Serbia is now second in the group, with eight points from five games.

The top two teams in each group will qualify for the Euro 2024 finals, which will be held in Germany.
