Rays Jose Siri Not In Tampa Bay Lineup

Rays' Jose Siri: Not in Tampa Bay lineup

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Jose Siri is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Texas Rangers.

Manager Kevin Cash said Siri is dealing with a sore right ankle and is day-to-day.

Siri has been one of the Rays' most productive hitters this season, batting .300 with seven home runs and 38 RBIs in 113 games.

The Rays are also without infielder Taylor Walls, who is on the injured list with a left hamstring strain.

With Siri and Walls out, the Rays will likely start Kevin Kiermaier in center field and Brandon Lowe at shortstop.

The Rays are hoping Siri and Walls can return to the lineup soon, as they are in a tight race for the AL East title.

Tampa Bay is currently in second place, two games behind the New York Yankees.

Siri was injured in Sunday's game against the Chicago Cubs when he collided with the outfield wall while making a catch.

He left the game with a bruised right ankle, but X-rays were negative.

Siri is expected to undergo further evaluation on Tuesday to determine the extent of his injury.

The Rays are hoping he can avoid a stint on the injured list.

In other Rays news, left-hander Shane McClanahan will start Tuesday's game against the Rangers.

McClanahan is 11-4 with a 2.20 ERA this season.

The Rangers will counter with right-hander Dane Dunning.

Dunning is 3-6 with a 4.11 ERA this season.

The Rays are hoping to snap a two-game losing streak and gain ground on the Yankees in the AL East standings.

The Rangers are hoping to win their second straight game and improve their record to 59-67.
